This camera of blackmagic studio 4k is very light weighted and is designed to use for the live production. Due to its light structure, it is easy to travel with but also strong enough to use in the field. It is constructed from the magnesium alloy body. It also has tally indicators, talkback, 12G-SDI inputs/outputs and XLR audio connections. These features can only be found in larger studio camera except in Blackmagic studio camera 4k. It also has an optical fiber.
You can control the camera by using the future update with ATEM switchers. As the update is available for both ATEM switchers and camera. All the camera control buttons are right below the viewfinder, as it lets you to adjust your settings easily. The camera will also send the control commands of controlling the iris, focus, and gain from SDI program feed.
At the frame rates of 83.98, 24, 29.97, 25 and 30p the camera has Ultra HD resolutions. The camera has a built-in battery of 4-hour single charge. These internal batteries benefit when you want to remove the external batteries as it does not let the device to turn off. Its 15G-SDI output gives 10-bit 4:2:2 video. At frame rates of 30, 50, 25, 24, 29.97, 50.94 and 23.98 it also offers 1080p and 1080i resolutions.
For having easy access manufacturers put all the important buttons for control panel just below the LCD screen. It helps you to adjust your settings without scrolling down the complicated menus. Some functions you can perform by these buttons are like you can activate talkback and iris settings. Also, you can adjust the focus.
Integrated 10” LCD Screen:
The large display of 10” screen helps you to easily view your shots while you operate the camera. It has 1920*1200 resolutions. Also, the detachable sunshade protects the screen from glare, it also helps you to create your own personal viewing space. You can have the clear view of your shot due to its wide viewing angle.
Lightweight and Compact Design:
The camera features of black magic studio contain compact magnesium which is both lightweight and strong in quality. It makes it useable both in field and studio. You can use it in tight spaces due to its lightweight and compact size. It is also easy to transport. The rubber coating around the camera gives it an extra grip to the user while changing lens.
Micro four Third Lens Mount
The blackmagic studio is using an active Micro four third lens mount. You can use third party adapters to mount anything like PL-mount cinema to DSLR lenses. You can also choose from available MFT lenses.
This feature of the camera is very useful as it allows the crew members and the camera operator to communicate during production. You don’t need to run separate talkback cables as it is connected or embedded in the SDI video connection of camera. It is compatible with general aviation headset connections, so it allows users to choose from a wide stock of available headsets.
Optional Bi-Directional Optical Fiber Module:
With the addition of user-upgradable optical fiber module, anyone can use low, standard cost optic fiber cable to connect the camera to the switcher over long distances. As the optical fiber connection is bi-directional and carries Ultra HD video. It also uses tally, talkback and embedded audio with camera remote control.
The broadcast connections are built on both sides of the camera and XLR audio inputs, headphones and power on a side with LANC on other side. It allows you to quickly change the cables as needed and keep them protected during production.
Multiple Mounting points:
Various type of mounting points allows you to set your rig to your desire product needs. The blackmagic camera uses 10 ¼”-20 mounting points on the top and side and two 3/8”-16 mounting points on the bottom.
You can broadcast tally from the switchers to all the cameras from ATEM switchers outputs as these are send to the camera via PVC(Program Video Connections). As we know blackmagic supports the tally SDI standard which is used in ATEM range of live production switchers. These tally lights illuminated automatically when the camera is love. The crew and the cast can easily know that which camera is on air by seeing the tally lights on the front of the camera and one light on above viewfinder.
View Program video:
By just pressing a button you can see or view the program video of your live production. Just press the camera’s PGM button and then the viewfinder will do its work to display the program video feed. It also turns the viewfinder into a large size SDI monitor. While using blackmagic camera recording you can also playback by using SDI input from a local HyperDeck recorder.
Hot Swappable Power:
The camera has built-in batteries which allow to hot swap the external batteries without turning off the device. These batteries will let you shoot for four hours. The standard power connector of 4-pin XLR batteries for external 12 to 24V power supplies.
ATEM Camera Control Update:
This update will be available for free for both ATEM and Camera. It allows the camera to control any type ATEM switchers. Blackmagic also built primary color connector in camera and it will be controlled by the ATEM switcher. It will let you do more creative corrections than simple color balancing. When camera commands send to SDI program feed then it will let you adjust the lens, iris and more.
